What’s Next For Nike? Total 90 Series

23 Jan

The “What’s Next For Nike?” post series will consist of 4 seperate posts, one for each Nike boot.. They will be released back-to-back each day for the next four days. This post will feature the Nike Total 90 Seires

The one boot that hasn’t been crushed by Adidas is the Total 90 series. It’s been the one game that has actually been attacking the Predator. With rumours of the new Adipower Predator coming and weighing in at less then the Total 90 Elite. So what is Nike doing to solve this problem? Read on to find out!

The Why:

This is probably the closest boot race in power boot history. With almost an equal amount of players wearing both the Total 90 III and the Predator X it’s almost a deadlock. The only difference is the weight. Many players are opting for the Total 90 III Elite due to the Predator’s weighing at a heavy 11 oz. Problem is the new Adipower Predator expected to be released in June will be around 6 oz. Nike already has it out for them, with not much history behind their boots and many player denying their technology even working. It’s really a matter of who has the better boot and when Adidas and Nike release them.

The Evidence:

With the thought to be last two color ways of the Total 90 III coming up in a few months it will be about time for a whole new boot. It’s been nearly a year and a half since the Total 90 III was released which means it’s almost time for a new boot. What I expect is for Nike to release their Total 90 IV and Adidas to release their Adipower Predator immediatley after. Which one of the two football giants will win the power boot market is unknown to all

The What:

There is absolutely no pictures to post for this paticular prediction. There is absolutely no idea what the Total 90 IV will hold. Here’s the few rumours we’ve heard about the boot. It is expected to be slightly lighter to compete with the Adipower Predator. It’s also been heard that Nike will possibly remove the shot pods. It is fully expected to see a complete re-design of the boot once again, and a whole advertising campaign to kick it off. This new boot is expected to be released just in time for the fall season so you T90 fans start saving up your money.

Tired of using my T90 III now! Need a new pair of shoes for the season coming up in a month here in Norway. Think it’ll be either Nike’s CTR360 Maestri or maybe I’ll go in the other direction and try out the Adidas Predator X Stealth. What’s your thoughts?

Well it depends on your position. They both have some fantastic attributes. If you are looking for power and a narrow fit go for the Predator. If you care more about cushioning and a wider fit go for the Maestri. Both weigh near the same so it shouldn’t matter weight-wise. Hope this helps. If you have any other information though I might be able to tell you.

I’m a left back storming the wing up and down, crossing a lot and sometimes go for a shot with my preferred right foot. Thanks for your answers.

In that case both are good for what you are doing. It just depends on what fit you would like. Although I have heard that the Predator’s studs can give some people ankle pain.

  3. I heard the new T90 Laser boots would feature a fin-likr Kanga-lite upper akin to the CTR360 IIs. These new boots would probably also feature new shotshield technology to lighten it up versus the Adidas adipowers. The new Predators are set to be built like an adizero but would still feature a Powerspine. I hope they keep a leather version for both boots because at the moment, I’m loving my T90 Strike III with a white K-Leather Upper and a pair of Nike (RED) Laces. The other power boots such as the Powercat or Wave Ignitus are very close behind but as Nike and adidas are doing, they both have to lighten up and change their game. Mizuno would always have a trick up their sleeve such as the Mukaiten technology, but Puma’s V1.10s aren’t any good compared to adizeros and Superflys. I’m with Nike for this one.
